It could have been much worse: As the welcoming neon signs went back into the front windows along Oakwood Avenue and Wallenwein's prepared to reopen for business as usual a little more than three weeks after the Dec. 1 fire that threatened to destroy the century-old landmark, that thought was on everyone's mind. It could have been much worse.
